← For the Record

Your memories and your privacy

Updated October 15, 2026 · Browser prototype

For the Record helps you turn a family memory into a PDF. This version stores your archive in the browser on this device. It does not provide a shared cloud archive or user accounts.

What stays on this device

Names, typed memories, corrected transcripts, photographs, drafts, and prepared invitations are saved in browser storage. If you choose “Keep my original audio,” the recording is saved in this browser’s IndexedDB. Otherwise the app discards its recording after transcription. Browser transcription runs on this device; the app does not upload that recording to a transcription provider.

Anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to see the archive. Clearing browser data, using a different device, or losing the device may remove access. Save a PDF and keep separate copies of original photographs and recordings. PDFs and archive JSON exports do not contain retained audio.

Services that receive requests

GitHub stores the app’s source code, not your archive. Supabase, Stripe, Resend, PostHog, and Checkly are not connected in this release. The older ElevenLabs API routes are disabled for live requests. There is no active product analytics or session recording integration.

Sharing, deleting, and control

A downloaded PDF contains the names, stories, photos, and source notes you included. Share it only with people you intend to receive that material. Prepared Keeper links currently rely on this browser’s archive and do not enable collaboration across devices. Preparing an invitation does not send email.

Use your browser’s site-data settings to delete this app’s local archive, retained audio, and cached model files. Delete downloaded exports separately. Browser deletion does not erase hosting-provider logs. For hosting-related privacy requests, contact the person who provided this prototype; a dedicated support contact and retention schedule have not yet been established.

Before adding a service

This notice must change before enabling accounts, shared storage, analytics, payments, email delivery, or hosted AI. Do not use this prototype as your only copy of important family material.
