Terms of the prototype

For the Record is an experimental tool for writing or recording family memories and downloading a family PDF. It is provided for evaluation, without a subscription, purchase, or promise of permanent storage.

Your material

You retain your rights in the material you provide. Only include material you have permission to use and share. Be considerate of the people named in memories, especially when a story includes sensitive details. You decide who receives your exported files.

Review before sharing

Automatic transcription can make mistakes. Review names, quotations, dates, and the final PDF. The app preserves source text to help with review, but it does not establish that a recollection is factually correct.

Storage and availability

This release saves data in your browser. There are no shared accounts, guaranteed backups, cloud recovery, or cross-device invitations. Keep your own copies. Features and availability may change, and the prototype may contain defects.

Use with care

Do not use the app to infringe rights, harass people, or abuse its hosting. No payment is collected in this version. This notice does not attempt to limit rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
